- 1). Consult with a criminal defense attorney to better your chances of having the record sealed. The attorney can also give you critical information that might help your case.
- 2). Obtain a verified copy of your criminal history. To do this, contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
- 3). Obtain a "Judgment of Conviction and Discharge" from the District of Court Clerk only if you were convicted of your charges. You must physically go to the court clerk to obtain this judgment.
- 4). Type a petition, affidavit and order, and a stipulation. Do not hand write these forms. Make sure to include which arrests you would like to be sealed, where you were arrested, the date the arrests occurred, the charges, and the final dispositions (the final outcome) of the charges.
- 5). Sign and date all of the forms. Make three copies of each form after they are signed.
- 6). Mail or drop off your forms to the Clark County District Attorney's office. You must include all of the copies of the forms, your criminal history printout, and the Judgment of Conviction and Discharge. It will take an up to three months for a response from the district attorney.
- 7). Pay the filing fees. There are certain filing fees required before the district attorney will review your case. The amount of the fees can be determined when dropping off your paperwork.
- 8). Receive your paperwork from the district attorney. If the forms have not been signed, they have decided not to seal your criminal record. Included in the forms will be an explanation of why they were not sealed. Sometimes, your forms will require more information. Resend the requested information and wait for a response.
