How to Find More Readers For Your Blog

Your blog is similar to your website, neither of them are any good without visitors or readers.
However, a good blog will find it easier to get readers than a website will find visitors.
There is more than one way to do this, so let's get started.
Making a post to your blog is just part of the process, you must ping your blog with every new posting.
Pinging is the way you let the internet know that you have written a new entry to your blog.
You do this by setting up a listing of sites to be notified in your blog software.
You can also use some of the online services, just do a search for "blog ping" and you will see them show up.
You should also make sure that your blog has RSS capabilities (Real Simple Syndication).
RSS feeds allow your blog readers to load your blog in their newsreader making it easier for them to stay caught up on what you have to say.
It also allows others to syndicate what you write on your blog on their own websites, which gives you more exposure.
As you know the more exposure you get the better.
Another great method of getting more readers to your blog is to read and contribute to other blogs.
Yes, believe it or not this is vital if you want to succeed.
Blogging is a community, every blogging topic is the same.
So if your blog is about dogs, you need to visit other blogs about dogs.
Read their posts (which, as an added bonus will help you with ideas for your blog), and when you can comment on that post.
Remember to keep your comment relevant to the post itself, and then link to one of your blog posts which is also relevant.
Just do not spam the blog by putting in unrelated comments.
You should also quote other people's blogs and give them what is called a Trackback link in your blog post.
The trackback will appear on the other person's blog, with a link leading right back to your own blog.
A little cross promotion.
Get your blog listed in the search engines.
Once you have done this you do not have to keep doing it for every post, as once they know about you the spiders will crawl your blog regularly and will index all of your blog entries.
There are sites that will allow you to list your blog with them.
You should generally look for sites that relate to your topic.
Some may require you give them a reciprocal link, but you should be able to do this easily, depending on the blog software you are using.
It is a good idea to have links on your blog to other sites you think your readers may be interested in anyway.
When you post to related forums, using the example above dog forums, make sure you put a link to your blog in your signature file.
Just make sure that is not against the forum's rules before doing so, some forums do not like promotional signature links.
Also make a signature in your email program pointing to your blog.
That way when you are sending an email your link will go out to them as well.
Just make sure that you include that signature file.
Just so you know, it is easier to promote a website than just a product, and it is easier to promote a blog than to promote a website, because it is more personal.
That is why you should make creating and updating your blog a priority, and I am sure you will be very happy with the results.
