Waterpik Repair Tips

    Waterpik Does Not Run

    • If the Waterpik will not run at all, the first thing to check is the outlet itself. It is possible that the problem lies not with the appliance but with the outlet itself. Before performing any other troubleshooting steps, be sure to check the outlet by plugging in another appliance. If the outlet is functioning normally, carefully check the on/off switch on the unit. The on/off switches on many models of Waterpik can become jammed and fail to function. Move the switch to the "off" position, then firmly move it back to the "on" position. If there is a problem with the power switch, this should help get the Waterpik running again.

    Leakage Problems

    • One of the most annoying problems with a Waterpik is the leakage of water between the jet tips and the handle. Not only does this result in wet hands and make a mess, it also means that the Waterpik is not producing the water pressure it needs to do the best possible job. If you notice water leaking out around the handle, turn the unit off and remove the jet tips. Carefully clean the jet tips and look for blocked jets. After the jet tips have been thoroughly cleaned, place them back in the unit.

    Lack of Water Pressure

    • The chief advantage of using a Waterpik is that the high water pressure it produces does a better job of cleaning your teeth than a standard toothbrush. When that water pressure is lacking, you are not getting the cleaning you need, and it is important to find out what is causing the problem. Perhaps the most common cause of low water pressure is a buildup of calcium hard water deposits around the jets of the unit. If you have hard water, it is important to examine the tips and remove any buildup of calcium you find. After the unit has been thoroughly cleaned, put the tips back on and you should notice a marked increase in water pressure.
