A work at home internet business offers a great deal of freedom but it does have its requirements. It is a most rewarding career in many ways but things don't just magically work out that way.

You are searching for information or an opportunity, obviously, so you already have some of the first requirement. We will discuss them in general, the specifics don't really matter.

Desire:
* Desire for control of your life.
* Desire for control of your circumstances.
* Desire for better conditions.

Most people who want to work at home are looking for an environment they can control. A self controlled environment is perceived to be freedom: and rightly so. Just remember there's no safety net.

Many simply want a change in circumstances or situation. This can be based on a number of reasons. Make sure that the factors that have you looking for a change don't follow you into your home business.

Maybe you are looking for a better work environment physically or emotionally. Carefully determine what is wrong with your present situation and identify what you desire in a work at home internet business. What would you do differently?

Goals:

* Income: a supply, a greater or more secure income, etc.
* Material items: home, car, boat, etc.
* Lifestyle: travel, vacations, entertainment, etc.

Goals are easily confused with desires and vice versa. You can not substitute one for the other. Your goals must be clearly defined and should be realistic. That doesn't mean you can't dream big. Just be willing to achieve your goals in increments if necessary.

If you don't have the desire and the drive to achieve your goal you will fail. I don't believe you can succeed on the strength of your goal alone.

Drive:

* Determination.
* Endurance.
* Perseverance.

A successful work at home internet business will require more drive than most of us ever had working for an employer. There's no one above you to "drive" you. As your own boss you will be required to begin and complete many projects completely on your own.

Nothing worth having is free. Enduring discouragement and disappointments as they come will be a natural part of owning and working your business.

Persevering through it all is the key; pressing on for success. Success is measured many ways. Sometimes it's only your success in determining what doesn't work.

Discipline:

* Self starter.
* Self motivated.
* Responsible.

Self discipline is a major requirement. This is super-critical. Remember, no boss. While there is freedom in working at home, you must get up and going. Once in motion, you must become and stay motivated. You must keep going and take responsibility for your actions and your business.

Investments:

* Personal knowledge.
* Financial knowledge.
* Others.

Knowledge is another key. It's not enough just to know how to start-up your work at home internet business. You must know how the internet works and keep up with business changes and developments.

Increasing your financial knowledge is critical. Learning how to handle money, costs, profits and taxes will likely mean the difference in reaching your goals or not. Most of us have to actively seek out this knowledge.

Assuming you are successful, and I hope you are, do you plan on investing in others? It's called giving back or sometimes paying forward. The most overall successful marketers have realized the importance of helping others achieve their own success.
