- 1). Turn off the engine and open the hood. Depending on the model of your Chevy truck, you may either have one pin or two pins holding the headlamp assembly into place. If your truck has two pins, turn the outer pin outward and the inner pin inward, then pull them straight out. If your truck has one pin, turn the pin up and pull it straight out.
- 2). Pull the headlamp assembly out of the vehicle. Tug on the electrical connector. If it comes out, firmly plug it into the rear of the assembly. Test the headlights by turning the headlamp switch to the ON position. If the headlights do not work, there may be an issue with the bulb. Turn the headlamp switch to the OFF position.
- 3). Unplug the electrical connector and remove the headlamp assembly from the truck. The larger bulb is the high-beam headlight and the smaller bulb is the low-beam headlight. Pull them out of the assembly and replace them with new bulbs. The high beams use 9005 type bulbs. The low beams use 9006 type bulbs.
- 4). Place the assembly back into the vehicle and reattach the electrical connector. Refasten the pins. Test the headlights again. If they are still not working, there may be an issue with the headlamp fuse.
- 5). Locate the underhood fuse block on the driver's side. Remove the cover panel. Underneath the cover panel, you will find a fuse puller and several replacement fuses. Locate the fuses labeled "HI HDLP-RT," "HI HDLP-LT," "LO HDLP-RT," and "LO HDLP-LT." If any of the fuses are broken, they will need to be replaced. A fuse is broken if the metal rod inside the fuse is broken and is no longer in one piece.
- 6). Remove any broken fuses using the fuse puller and replace them with an identical fuse from the spare fuses under the cover panel. Place the cover panel back onto the underhood fuse block. Close the hood.
