- Fix your CD by using household materials. Put a drop of dishwashing liquid into a quart of bottled, or distilled, water. Mix the solution up and dampen a lint-free cloth with it. Gently wipe the scratched area of your CD, in a linear motion from center to edge, with the damp cloth.
- Apply some toothpaste to a lint-free cloth. Locate the scratches on your CD and gently wipe the toothpaste into the scratch(es). Hold the disc under warm running tap water. Dry with a lint-free cloth.
- Turn on your computer and open your CD-burning software, such as iTunes or Windows Media Player. Insert your repaired CD into your computer's disc drive. Click on the "Import" tab in your disc burning software; the data from your scratched CD will import into your software. It is now saved on your computer from which you can burn another copy if you so want.
