- 1). Go to the MSN Messenger website. Right-click a static or non-moving emoticon and select "Copy Image."
- 2). Open an image-editing program such as Microsoft Paint. Click "Paste" on the top toolbar. For older versions of the program, go to "Edit > Paste."
- 3). Click and drag the corner of the image to increase the resolution. Go to "Edit > Resolution" to set the size dimensions as well.
- 4). Go to "File > Save." Name your image and save it in GIF format. Copy and paste the newly enlarged emoticon into an IM window.
- 1). Open an image-editing program such as Microsoft Paint. Create an image or open an existing image that is saved on your computer.
- 2). Increase the resolution. Click and drag the corners of the image or go to "Edit > Resolution" to set the size dimensions as well.
- 3). Repeat this process for three to five images. Go to "File" and save each image in GIF format.
- 4). Go to a GIF animation generator website. One site in particular is Picasion. Click "Browse" and select the enlarged images. Click "Add one more picture" to add more than three images. Choose the size and speed of the animation as well.
- 5). Select "Create Animation." Copy and paste the animated emoticon image into an IM window.
