How to Corner Cut Baseboards

    • 1). Line up a protractor at the first corner in the room and write down the total measurement for the corner. Most corners will measure 90 degrees.

    • 2). Measure the distance of the first wall and mark that distance on the first piece of baseboard. Lay the baseboard down flat on a miter saw and slide it in along the base of the saw. Push it up against the fence of the saw.

    • 3). Turn the blade of the saw to half of the angle measurement. If the angle measured 90 degrees, turn the blade to 45 degrees in either direction. Line up the baseboard with the mark on the saw. Turn on the saw and pull straight down on the lever. Cut directly through the baseboard at the pencil mark. Release the lever to stop the saw. Wipe off excess dust by hand.

    • 4). Measure and mark the next piece of baseboard and slide it into the saw. Turn the blade of the saw to 45 degrees in the opposite direction and line it up with the mark on the baseboard. Cut this piece just as you cut the previous piece. Remove it from the saw and blow off excess dust.

    • 5). Line the two pieces up at the corner. Butt them up to one another and make sure they fit together properly. Measure the next angle in the room and repeat the process for all other angles.
