How to Make Stone Wind Chimes

    Make Stone Wind Chimes

    • 1). Collect about 10 stones. They can be any shape or size. Try to find them at the ocean. Stones found at the beach are smooth and beautiful. If you can't find the type of stone you are looking for in the outdoors, they can be purchased.

    • 2). Using a power drill put a hole through each of the stones. The holes do not have to be very large. They only need to be big enough for a nylon thread to pass through.

    • 3). Make the stones on your wind chime hang different lengths by cutting your nylon threads different sizes. You must make sure that the stones hit each other as they sway in the breeze, in order to make the wind chime sound. Hanging them slightly unevenly can still accomplish this purpose.

    • 4). Thread a piece of nylon through each stone of your wind chime. Tie a knot at the end of each thread. The stone will rest on the knot.

    • 5). Purchase a type of hanger to attach the hanging stones to. You will tie the tops of the threads to the hanger. There are different types of hangers you can purchase. Shop around until you find one you like.

    • 6). Hang the hanger with the attached stones on a hook somewhere outside. Your stone wind chimes will chime as the wind passes through them.
