- 1). Browse to the Oracle website in your Web browser. Click on the "Download JDK" button and select "Accept the License Agreement." Next, click on the appropriate link pointing to the suitable JRE version for your computer's operating system.
- 2). Click the "Start" button, "All Programs," "Accessories" and "Command Prompt." Type "cd" command and change to the appropriate directory where the JRE installation file is located.
- 3). Type the following command in the command prompt "<jre>.exe /s." Next, append the following option "/L C:\setup.log" at the end of the previous command to create the log file. You need to set the <jre> parameter to reflect the actual file name of your JRE installation file.
For example, the following command quickly performs a silent installation and creates a log file called setup.log in the folder C:\ during the silent installation: "jre-6-rc-windows-i586.exe /s /L C:\setup.log." - 4). Press "Enter" to run the JRE installation in silent mode.
- 5). Verify the generated setup.log file to ensure that the silent installation has been completed successfully. This information is located at the bottom of the log file.
