- 1). Detach the grounding cable from the vehicle's battery before adding or removing any component to the vehicle's electrical system. Lift the hood and loosen the bolt that holds the grounding cable's clamp to the negative battery terminal. Remove the cable from the battery and rest it away from the battery terminals to prevent from shorting the electrical system while installing the Kenwood deck. Move to the vehicle's interior.
- 2). Remove the factory radio from the vehicle's stereo mounting dock. Consult the repair manual for precise removal instructions. Disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cables from the radio.
- 3). Place the Kenwood's installation sleeve into the stereo dock. Feed the stereo wiring and antenna cables through the back of the sleeve while you insert it into the dock. Bend the metal tabs on the inside of the sleeve outward with a flat screwdriver to secure it within the vehicle's stereo dock.
- 4). Connect the two stereo wiring lead connectors to the leads of the aftermarket stereo wiring harness adapter. Plug the wiring harness adapter lead connectors into the outlets on the left side of the Kenwood's rear panel.
- 5). Insert the antenna cable lead into the FM/AM antenna input on the lower right corner of the Kenwood's rear panel. Slide the unit into the installation sleeve until it snaps into place on both sides.
- 6). Replace any dashboard paneling that was removed during the removal of the stock radio. (Consult the shop/repair manual for panel replacement instructions.) Move to the engine compartment.
- 7). Place the grounding cable clamp back around the negative battery terminal post. Tighten the bolt on the cable's clamp with the wrench to secure the cable onto the terminal lead. Close the hood.
