How to Install a Turbo 350 to a SBC

    • 1). Align the transmission with the back of the engine. Make sure that the converter-to-flex plate bolt holes are properly aligned.

    • 2). Install and securely fasten the transmission-to-engine bolts to 23 foot pounds. Install the transmission-to-flex plate bolts and tighten to 46 foot pounds. Install the crossmember to the underside of the transmission and torque the four bolts to 32 foot pounds. Install and tighten the rear transmission mount mount bolts and tighten to 32 foot pounds.

    • 3). Install the shift linkage rod to the driver's side of the transmission. Position and install the two oil cooler pipes against the transmission using a flare nut wrench. Attach the rubber vacuum line onto the nipple of the vacuum modulator located at the back of the transmission. Attach the speedometer cable by rotating the integral nut at the tip of the cable. Install the front of the driveshaft into the back of the transmission. Install the four driveshaft retaining bolts with an open-end wrench to secure it to the front of the differential.

    • 4). Add nine quarts of transmission fluid and start the engine. Check for any leaks or malfunctions as the transmission reaches normal operating temperature.
