One trick to making your Halloween candy buffet appear very full is to vary the height of the candies, so that the eye is always moving around the table and nothing appears static. There are several tricks to doing this. One is to choose candies that have natural height--for instance, large lollipops, rock candy, or pretzel rods. Another option is to get a wide variety of serving containers, and stagger them in intervals across the tabletop to create movement.
A third possibility is to give some candies a "boost" by putting them on boxes or pedestals--these can be displayed on the table, or hidden underneath the tablecloth.
In my buffet I used a combination of these tricks. I displayed some vertical candies, like rock candy and chocolate-dipped pretzel sticks, and I used some tall containers like the large vase holding candy corn. Finally, I lifted some of the serving platters with hidden boxes underneath, like the plate holding pumpkin spice truffles and pumpkin chocolate truffles.
