How to Align the Splitter on Table Saws

    • 1). Turn of the power to the saw. Raise the blade on the saw to approximately two inches from the top of the blade to the top of the saw where the blade emerges from the table. Lay one carpenter's square on each side of the blade, parallel and flush with the blade so the long end of the squares extend past the splitter on both sides.

    • 2). Lean over the blade. Look straight down on the blade. If the splitter is in perfect alignment, there should be equal distance between the blade and both straightedges. Take note of any unequal measurements.

    • 3). Take off the blade if the saw blade is closer to the straightedge on the right side of the blade. Use the wrench that came with the saw to take off the blade. Add one arbor bushing and then put the blade back on. Check the measurement again. If the blade is still closer on the right side, add another bushing, check the measurement and then add another bushing if needed to center the alignment.

    • 4). Take off the splitter mounting block if the distance from the blade to the straightedge is closer on the left side of the blade. You will need to take the blade off first and then remove two bolts with a 1/2-inch wrench that hold the splitter mounting block in place. Place one or two washers between the mounting block and the saw frame on each bolt. Put the block back on and tighten the bolts slightly.

    • 5). Put the blade back on and check the measurement. If it is still too close on the left side, take off the blade. Take off the mounting block and put on two more washers and check again. If needed, put two more washers or until the measurement is equal on both sides of the blade.
