- 1). Place foot cushion inserts into your shoes, under the balls of your feet. The cushions keep your feet from slipping and make the big shoes fit tighter.
- 2). Stick friction relief strips in the back of the shoes to fill up the space behind your heels. Layer multiple strips if one strip is not thick enough to fill in the space.
- 3). Hold strapless heels, pumps, or slip-ons in place with a heel strap. Heel straps look like shoe straps, but are transferable from one shoe to the other. Loop the heel strap around the heel of your shoe and tie it around your ankle to hold it in place. If needed, also use a foot cushion under the ball of your feet to keep the shoes from slipping.
- 4). Stuff the front of your shoe with cotton balls or paper tissue to fill up the excess space. Only do this if you wear the shoes for a short amount of time, because it inhibits the movement of your toes, which can irritate your feet and cause discomfort.
