- If the dryer is new and the feet are not properly aligned, vibration is likely to occur. Usually a dryer comes with four feet and rubber washers that go on the bottom to keep them in place. Without proper installation, the dryer will vibrate when in use. Installation of the feet varies slightly by dryer model and manufacturer.
- Not sitting level is a common reason that dryers vibrate. Push on the top of the dryer, in each corner, to determine if it's level; much the same way you would a wobbly table. The feet are adjustable, but a wrench will probably be required to loosen and tighten the nuts that attach them to the frame. Let out or take in the feet as needed to get the machine level. A level tool is good thing to have for this step.
- When a dryer is not placed on a solid floor, such as concrete, it can result in vibrating noise. To make the floor more solid under the dryer, add a piece of plywood to the floor surface. Get a piece of plywood that is three-fourths inches thick and place it under the dryer. Have a friend help you lift the dryer to get the plywood under the machine.
- A large load of laundry in the dryer, may be too big for the machine to handle. When this happens, the dryer can vibrate. It happens because the laundry gets balled up in the dryer and hits the sides of the drum as it tumbles. Remove some of the laundry to redistribute it and stop the vibrating.
