Apple Announces Press Event for October 16, 2014
Apple sent invitations to the media earlier this week for a press event to be held at Apple's main campus theater. The invitation came with the tag line, "It's been way too long."
Apple is expected to announce new iPads, updates to iOS 8, OS X Yosemite, and perhaps a new Mac or two at the event. It's always fun to try to decipher Apple's cryptic references in its press invites; this one seems to indicate an update to a product that has been in the shadows for quite a while.
Mac enthusiasts were quick to suggest Mac minis and iMacs as products that haven't seen updates in a while, but let's not forget that the Apple TV has been feeling a bit neglected as well… Read more.
Apple Campus 2 Showing Progress With Spaceship Ring Foundation
When Apple first made its public presentation to the City of Cupertino about building a new Apple campus, many were surprised by both the sheer size, being built on over 170 acres, and the campus details, a large ring-shaped building that was quickly dubbed Spaceship Apple (and also often called the mother ship).

Apple Is Rumored to Be Removing All Bose Products From Its Retail Stores
Apple and Bose have had a long relationship when it comes to selling Bose speakers, headphones, and accessories in Apple's online and retail stores, but it appears this partnership is coming to an end.

The two parties involved in the suit, Apple (after acquiring Beats) and Bose, recently came to an out-of-court settlement that resulted in Bose asking for dismissal of the suit. Because the settlement occurred outside of the court system, we don't know the details, but perhaps the removal of the Bose products is either part of the deal or an attempt by Apple to put leverage on Bose before the deal was made… Read more.
GT Advanced, Maker of Sapphire Glass Used by Apple, Files Bankruptcy
GT Advanced, Apple's partner in sapphire glass production, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company has also filed a plan to wind down sapphire glass production at its Arizona and Massachusetts facilities.
It was expected that sapphire glass would be used in the recent iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but GT Advanced was unable to meet the production requirements necessary to meet Apple's expected product demand. As a result, the new iPhones shipped with Gorilla Glass from Corning.
Apple had provided loans for GT Advanced to build its large-scale Arizona production facility… Read more.
