How to Remove Black Widows

    • 1). Put on protective gloves and closed-toed shoes when attempting to remove black widow spiders and their webs.

    • 2). Remove wood, rubble or clutter to expose the black widow and its web.

    • 3). Spray the spider and its web with an insecticide containing about 40-percent cypermethrin as an active ingredient. Spraying the web ensures that you'll also kill any egg sacs.

    • 4). Spray the insecticide around window and door frames, vent openings, garages, basements and foundations where black widow and other spiders are likely to build nests.

    • 5). Spray a cobweb-eliminating spray every few months on existing webs, which will help to prevent spiders from returning.

    • 6). Trim any weeds around your home and get rid of piles of clutter where black widow spiders tend to live.
