How to Connect Acrylic Rods

    • 1). Remove the top from a squeeze bottle, usually supplied with the glue and place the funnel in the top of the bottle. Use a squeeze bottle that had a very fine needle tip for more precise glue application.

    • 2). Put on disposable rubber gloves and safety glasses. Fill the bottle 1/4 of the way full of a liquid acrylic cement.

    • 3). Sand the end of the acrylic rods that you are placing together with a medium-grit sandpaper until they are completely smooth to the touch. Wipe the rods with a paper towel to remove all sanding dust.

    • 4). Place one acrylic rod on top of a work table and attach it firmly using a table clamp. Place the other acrylic rod up to the end of the first rod and push it firmly against it. Secure the second rod to the table using another table clamp. There should no space between the ends of the rods.

    • 5). Turn the squeeze bottle upside down and place the tip of the needle directly on top of the joint between the two acrylic rods. Squeeze the bottle gently and allow the acrylic cement to seep down into the joint.

    • 6). Allow the acrylic rods to remain in the clamps for 24 hours and then remove them. The rods will be permanently bonded together.
