- 1). Fill your spray bottle until it is nearly full of water. Carefully pour in 4 tbsp. of liquid dish soap. Screw on the bottle top and shake to mix the soapy solution. Set the bottle down and allow the bubbles to subside.
- 2). Fill your air mattress according to manufacturer's instructions.
- 3). Turn off any appliance or item that makes noise. When the room is silent, sit on the edge of the mattress and listen for the hiss of released air. This may lead you to the general area of the leak.
- 4). Spray the soapy solution in the general direction of the sound. Coat the surface of the mattress, but limit your spray space to a 2-foot square area.
- 5). Sit on the edge of your mattress. This forces air out of the slow leak and creates bubbles where the hole is. If you do not see bubbles, dry the surface of the mattress with a clean towel and spray another section of the mattress. Continue this until you see bubbles coming out of the mattress.
- 6). Dry and mark the area of the mattress where you saw the bubbles. Use a permanent marker to pinpoint the exact spot to repair.
- 7). Fill a bucket half full with water if you do not have a spray bottle. Add 4 tbsp. of liquid dish soap. Stir the mixture until it becomes a soapy solution. Soak your sponge in the bucket of soapy water. Do not wring it out. Wipe the surface of your mattress with the soapy sponge, working in a 2-foot square area. Follow the same process as the squirt bottle method.
