How to Convert Milliliters to Square Centimeters

    • 1). Measure the height of the object with a ruler. For example, the height of a fish tank is 15 inches.

    • 2). Multiply the dimension in inches by 2.54 to convert it to centimeters. In this example, the height is 15 x 2.54 = 38.1 centimeters.

    • 3). Divide the volume in milliliters by the height in centimeters to calculate the are in square centimeters. For example, if the volume of the fish tank is 5,000 milliliters (5 liters) then the area is 5,000 / 38.1 = 131.2336 square centimeters.

    • 4). Round the result of the area calculation as necessary; for example, rounding the area to tenth yields 131.2 square centimeters.
