- 1). Restart your PC and press the "F8" key continuously before Windows initiates.
The "Safe Mode" screen displays. - 2). Access the Windows "Start" menu and click on "Run." Type "regedit" at the command line and press "Enter" to confirm. The "Registry Editor" utility opens up.
Windows Vista and 7 users, click on the "Start" Orb button and type "regedit" in the "Start Search" text field. Press "Enter" to confirm. - 3). Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" hive by clicking on the "+" sign next to it.
- 4). Continue expanding these keys and subkeys: "SOFTWARE" > "Microsoft" > "Wndows NT" > "CurrentVersion" > "Winlogon" > "Notify."
- 5). Right-click on the "Wgalogon" subkey (folder) and click on "Delete" from the drop-down menu options.
- 6). Perform a system search: Click on the Windows "Start" menu and click on "Search." Search for "wga*" files within your C:\ (or primary drive).
- 7). Select the "wgatray.exe" file and every other "wga" file. Right-click on the selection and choose "Delete" from the drop-down menu.
- 8). Restart your computer.
If the WGA messages persist, continue to the next section. - 1). Click on the Windows "Start" menu and click on "Run." Type "cmd" in the text field and press "Enter." The MS-DOS screen opens up.

Regsvr32 %Windir%\system32\LegitCheckControl.dll /u - 3). Access the MS-DOS screen again. Type the following lines of code in the MS-DOS screen and press "Enter" after you finish typing each:
Del %Windir%\system32\wgalogon.old
Del %Windir%\system32\WgaTray.old
Del %Windir%\system32\LegitCheckControl.dll - 4). Click on the "Start" menu again, click "Run" and type "regedit" in the command line. Press Enter to confirm. The Registry Editor opens up.
Windows Vista and 7 users, click on the "Start" Orb button and type "cmd" in the "Start Search" text field. Press "Enter" to confirm. - 5). Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" hive and continue expanding the following subkeys: "SOFTWARE" > "Microsoft" > "Windows" > "CurrentVersion" > "Uninstall."
- 6). Select the "WgaNotify" folder, right-click on it and select "Delete" from the drop-down menu.
- 7). Restart your computer.
