- Fill glass jars with a variety of food items, snacks and treats. Homemade food items that can be packaged in jars include granola, nuts, chocolate or other candy, jam and cookies. Tie a ribbon around the lip of the jar and decorate it with Christmas-themed paint, glitter, stickers and other embellishments. To make a "Cookie Recipe in a Jar," mix the dry ingredients of a cookie recipe and seal them in a glass jar. Write instructions on a small piece of card stock on how to finish the recipe and secure it to the jar with ribbon.
- There are a variety of baked goods that make appropriate edible Christmas gifts. Cupcakes, cookies, cookie bars, cheesecake, fruit pies and brownies are all good choices. To add a Christmas theme to your baked goods, select recipes that utilize traditional holiday flavors, such as peppermint, cinnamon or nutmeg. Ideas include peppermint bark, cinnamon streusel cake and pumpkin pie.
- Fill a basket, tin or gift bag with chocolate-dipped treats, such as candy canes, pretzels, crackers, cookies or strawberries. Candy melts in various colors are available at most craft stores and many supermarkets. Alternatively, you can color plain chocolate melts with food coloring. Once the chocolate is melted and mixed, dip your treats into it and place them on wax paper. Allow the dipped items to harden in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes before packaging them in sealed containers.
