How to make greener cleaning products

    • 1). Add 2 parts water to 1 part lemon juice to a spray bottle, spray on the surface and wipe off with a rag. Lemon juice works as a disinfectant and as an antibacterial. It is a good all-purpose cleaner and works best in the kitchen and bathroom.

    • 2). Put baking soda right on a tough-to-clean surface and scrub with a sponge. Let set for a couple of minutes and wipe off with a damp rag. It can be used in your washer to give your clothes an extra cleaning boost. It also works as a deodorizer on your carpet. Lightly sprinkle on your carpet, let set for 15 minutes and vacuum up.

    • 3). Mix 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water in a spray bottle. Spray on a surface and wipe off. Vinegar works on grease, mildew, coffee pots, and windows. It is a good all-purpose cleaner that disinfects.

    • 4). Use club soda for carpet stains, such as red wine. Blot the stain with a dry rag, soaking up as much as you can. Pour enough club soda directly on the spot to get the spot wet. Let it set for about 5 minutes and blot again. For a stubborn stain, do it a second time.

    • 5). Try borax in your laundry. Add a 1/2 cup to your laundry to give it an extra cleaning boost and to help remove stains. It can also be used on your carpet as a deodorizer and as a possible flea preventative. Sprinkle on your carpet, let set for 15 minutes, and vacuum up.
