Pets fulfill something on our lives, they serve as a stress reliever and pain remover, when human-pet-relationship is very intact it's devastating when that pet die.
When an adult lost a pet its hard to recover especially when that pet grows with you.
How about the kid? When kids are involved in a pet loss situation, there must be some special considerations to remember.
In situations like Euthanasia, it is best not to let kids to witness it, quotes like "your pet is now in heaven" and "It is better than seeing your dog suffer" is also appropriate.
Explaining to them that euthanasia is much better than letting a pet suffer, but deliver the spills in a nice and calm manner.
When a kid's pet die in a sudden reason or found dead, it is best to assure the kids that his/her pet is not in pain anymore and explain to them that they cannot have that pet forever.
When a kid's pet dies, it is normal that they become sentiment about it but do not ignore or belittle these emotions, it may end up in a serious psychological disorder.
"I'll buy you another one" or "It's just a guinea pig" will never help, in such situation it is much better, as a parent to become their shoulder to cry on.
Making them busy, playing with them, letting them bake cookies for snack and going out with will surely help, it will also serve as a bonding for you and your kids.
Letting them witness a simple memorial rite will make them understand that they cannot own a pet forever.
If you really want to buy another pet for you kids after a pet loss, make sure that they are fully recovered from the trauma and they are ready, but there are also some guidelines in buying a pet.
The pet that you will buy must not give resemblance to that deceased pet because that pet will just bring back old memories and may lead to mistreating the new pet.
