Preparing For a Turkey Visit

It always pays to know some bits and pieces of information about a country you want to travel to.
Before going to Turkey, it helps to study their culture so you'll know what to expect.
Before you leave home, it is essential that you know what to expect regarding the food, climate and cultural etiquette in Turkey so you'll be able to enjoy your stay more.
Turkey is one of the favorites when it comes to travel; a country between Europe and Asia, it became a melting pot of western and eastern cultures.
Turkey is an exceptionally modern nation but it still keeps and holds unto its traditional culture.
There are a large number of historical attractions and activities that can be found all throughout the different regions of Turkey.
Climate and Best Seasons to Visit Most of the regions in Turkey have a continental climate, making it a great vacation spot.
In its coastal regions, the climate is mild because of the sea.
Its central areas on the other hand are shielded from the sea by its long mountains ranges yet the climate is just right.
I personally can say that the best times to travel to Turkey are spring and autumn.
During the spring the days are long so you can see and do more on your visit.
Autumn is second best time to go to Turkey because the weather is mild and good for tours, although it can be rainy at times.
Turkish Food Turkish cuisine is one of the best in the world so it is a must to try their foods.
A Turkish breakfast may consist of white cheeses, tomatoes, black olives and bread, which is refreshing and healthy.
Lunch may include a lamb dish, fresh fruit or a pilaf dish and soups, which are served both at lunch and dinner.
Typically, dinner starts with appetizers, followed by an eggplant dish, salads and filled pasta known as manti.
Melons and fresh fruit are popular desserts, with sweets served with Turkish coffee.
Turkish Customs Turks are highly regarded due to their politeness and traditional hospitality.
However, you should know of their customs so you won't be doing them any disgrace.
In Turkey, shaking hands upon coming across someone of the opposite sex is considered inappropriate on certain occasions due to religious customs.
Displaying the sole of a foot in a way that it points towards the direction of others is regarded as rude, as well as pointing fingers at someone.
When you want to agree, you may nod as it means "yes", but you cannot shake the head to say "no" as it shows confusion, instead you nod your head while raising the eyebrows to say "no".
An open or public display of affection with the opposite sex is inappropriate.
It is also improper to blow your nose or pick your teeth when in public.
When you travel to Turkey, you will surely enjoy the trip notwithstanding any minor discomforts.
The experience of being in a historical land with so much culture and uniqueness will surely prevail over any small inconveniences.
