How to Wire a PNP to a PLC

  • 1). Identify what the colored wires indicate on the PNP sensor. You are looking for "DC Positive," "DC Negative," and "INPUT." Locate this label on the sensor body or in the unit's operating and installation documentation.

  • 2). Using the appropriate screwdriver, loosen the three primary screws on the PLC input.

  • 3). Identify the relationship between the PNP wiring and PLC inputs. Slide the DC negative wire into the "COM," or common ground input. Screw this down.

  • 4). Slip the input wire into the "INPUT" terminal on the PLC. Screw this down using the appropriate screwdriver.

  • 5). Slide the positive lead into the terminal normally labelled "+12VDC" or similar. Secure this by screwing down with the right screwdriver.
