- 1). Separate your bangs from the rest of your hair. Comb the bangs forward and pull the rest of your hair out of the way with a hairband and/or hair clips.
- 2). Wet your bangs down with water. The question of cutting bangs wet or dry comes down mostly to a preference issue. Wet bangs are easier to cut and you will be less likely to have split ends, but hair will shrink up a little when it dries, so remember to cut the bangs much longer than the desired result.
- 3). Comb bangs straight forward and run two fingers down to the tips on top and bottom of the bangs. Use those fingers to hold the bangs out away from your face.
- 4). Cut bangs just above with the razor. If using scissors, hold bangs further up and cut below your fingers with the scissors positioned at a 45 degree angle to your hair. Cut only a little at time, remembering that curly can hair can shrink up to 4 inches and straight hair up to 1 1/2 inches when dry.
- 5). Brush bangs over to the desired side. If you would like more of an angle at this point, carefully trim starting at the shortest point and move downward in the desired angle.
- 6). Dry your bangs and check the length. If you want them shorter, repeat the process.
- 7). Let down your hair and shake it out naturally. Pull back most of the hair again leaving the layers immediately around your face down. If desired, carefully blend your bangs into the layer closest to your face with the razor or scissors positioned at a downward angle.
