- 1). Use your vibrating sander to get the current surface clean, flat and free of any gloss.
- 2). Measure the length of the countertop to find the middle. Make a line at the middle, from front to back, using your square.
- 3). Spread tile adhesive on the vertical front edge of the countertop, using your tiling trowel. Measure and cut tiles to fit on the edge, using your tile cutter. Press the tiles into place with the uncut edge facing down and the cut edge facing up. Hang the tiles starting at the center line and work toward the ends, putting spacers between them.
- 4). Spread adhesive all over the top of the countertop. Place bullnose tiles in a row along the front, starting at the middle. The finshed bullnose sides of the tiles should face outward from the countertop, covering the cut sides of the front edge tiles. Put spacers between them.
- 5). Lay the rest of the tiles over the countertop, starting at the center line and working out toward the edges. Put spacers between all of them. Cut the tiles at the ends as needed. Let it set overnight.
- 6). Pull out the spacers. Spread grout over the countertop with your grout trowel, pressing it into the spaces. Wipe up the excess with a sponge.
