What You Need to Know About Breast Enlargement

There are various types and procedures of breast enhancement surgeries to either enlarge or reduce the breast or to correct a specific abnormality.
The enhancement surgery is performed under anesthesia.
A local anesthesia can be used that will numb only the breast area or general anesthesia that will put the patient to sleep.
The surgery can last from just one to a number of hours.
The length of a breast augmentation surgery depends largely on where the breast implants are inserted or whether the surgery is on only one or both breast.
The enlargement implant can be inserted in front of the chest muscle (sub glandular) or behind the sub muscular.
Augmentation may take up to 12 hours while repair and reconstruction can take just a couple of hours.
The length of time that the patient will stay in hospital after the operation will depend on a number of factors.
Such factors include if there are any complications, the patients health and the type and complexity of the breast augmentation surgery.
Before the surgery, the doctor is supposed to inform you about details of the surgery such as the expected length of the surgery, choice of medication to be used for nausea and pain, and how long you would likely stay in hospital after the operation.
What to expect- Augmentation or reconstruction Sometimes people are confused about whether to go for breast augmentation or breast reconstruction.
Making this decision should depend on proper information on realistic expectations.
You should feel free to talk with your doctor and ask questions on what to expect.
Take note that you cannot base your expectations on breast enlargement results of other women you know.
Two results are hardly the same for two different people.
Breast enhancement results are usually based on various factors, which include overall health, body shape, chest structure, healing potentials, prior breast surgery, bleeding tendencies, infection, type of breast enhancement surgery and finally and probably most importantly, the experience and skill of the surgical team.
Surgery scars are expected outcomes of breast surgery.
Your doctor should explain and describe the type of scar to expect after surgery providing information about the appearance, location and size of scars to expect.
In time however, most women will realize that their surgery scars fade away to just lines.
Darker skins display the scars more prominently.
Breast enhancement surgeries are not without risks.
However, all surgeries carry certain amounts of risks and patients should speak with their doctors to discuss surgery procedures and these risks before the surgery.
Some of the risks associated with breast augmentation include hardening of breasts; losing sensation in the nipples or breast, surgery may also interfere with mammography and make it more difficult to detect cancer, and implants may shift position.
The risks associated with breast enlargement can however be reduced when the surgeries are performed by qualified and experienced breast surgeons.
