Different Ways to Make a Bulletin Board

    Embroidery Hoops

    • Use large embroidery hoops and swatches of fabrics that are big enough to cover the whole hoop. Hang the hoops as you would hang a frame, letting the edge of the hoop rest of a frame hook. This easy project idea is from Jennifer Pebbles, creator of The Good Life blog. By using a few hoops at a time, not only will you create a beautiful visual focus, but you also can organize clutter by using each hoop for a different category, either by level of urgency or by topic such as finances, inspiration or important documents. When you get bored with these bulletin boards, or if you want to change the décor of your office, simply swap the fabric for a new look.

    Coaster Set

    • A coaster set bulletin board can serve many purpose. It will help you clean your working area, while also avoiding rings forming on your desk from your drinks. For this project, you will need cork coasters, ribbons, scissors, hot glue and Velcro. First, wrap the ribbons around your coaster to create a pattern you like. Secure the ribbons in place using the hot glue. Cut excess pieces of ribbons, as you don't want them to dangle. Place a piece of Velcro on the back side of the coaster, and the other piece on the wall, where you would like your coaster bulletin board to be. The more coasters you use, the bigger your board will be. Then, attach your coaster to the wall and you have a pretty bulletin board you can change by mixing which coaster fits where, and that you can use when getting yourself something to drink. (see Reference 2)

    Wine Corks

    • Make a unique cork board by recycling used wine corks. You will need many wine corks, a shadow box frame, metal pipe hangers and very strong glue. First, create circular patterns inside your shadow box with the wires from the metal hangers. They will create the shape of your board and will help the corks fit tightly together. Glue the wires inside your shadow box when you like the pattern you have created. Fill in the gaps with the corks. Not every corner will be filled, but you can still use the majority of the space. For a clean look, you can cut all the corks the same height so that the final product will be smooth, but for an organic feel, leave the corks at different heights to create texture. Hang your new wine cork bulletin board above your desk, or in its designated space in your office.

    Stretched Fabric

    • One more fabric bulletin board idea makes use of old traditional bulletin boards or stretched canvases. You will also need fabric of your choice, ribbons, buttons and any other decoration you would like to add. Stretch the fabric over your old bulletin board or a canvas. Staple the fabric on the back of the board. Make sure the fabric is stretched tight so that is doesn't look rumpled. Next, decorate your board by gluing ribbons and buttons as you desire. If you glue the ribbons only at the extremities, you will notice that you can use them as support to place some of your souvenirs or important papers. Finally, hang the bulletin board where it belongs, and add to it when you need to clean your desk or remember something important.
