- 1). Fix your home's ventilation system. Properly ventilated, your home will help make sure that your drywall remains dry at all times.
- 2). Install a dehumidifier in your home. Black mold needs moisture to survive and it tends to grow in humid areas of your home. Install several dehumidifiers if your home is large.
- 3). Turn bathroom fans on for several minutes after taking a shower or bath. This will prevent the moisture from moving to other areas of your home and encouraging mold growth on drywall.
- 4). Fix plumbing and roof leaks as soon as they occur.
- 5). Dry carpeting and floors after cleaning them to reduce moisture in your home.
- 6). Paint the drywall with mold-resistant paint.
