- 1). Pin active programs to the taskbar. Windows displays the icons of active programs on the taskbar. Right-click the icon of the application and select "Pin this Program to Taskbar." This will allow you to launch the application directly from the taskbar.
- 2). Pin programs from the "Start" menu to the taskbar. The "Start" menu provides access to programs you frequently use. To pin a program from the "Start" menu, click the "Start" button, right-click the program you want to pin, and select "Pin to Taskbar."
- 3). Pin other applications to the taskbar. To pin other programs that are not in the "Start" menu, click the "Start" button and then click "All Programs." This will display all of the current applications on your computer. Right-click the application you want to pin to the taskbar and select "Pin to Taskbar."
- 4). Unpin a program from the taskbar. Right-click a pinned program on the taskbar and select "Unpin this Program from Taskbar."
- 1). Right-click the taskbar and select "Properties."
- 2). Click the "Taskbar" tab. Under the "Taskbar Appearance" section, you have the following options: "Lock the Taskbar," Auto-hide the Taskbar" and "Use Small Icons."
- 3). Click "Lock the Taskbar" if you want the taskbar to remain in one position.
- 4). Click "Use Small icons" to decrease the size of the buttons or icons in the taskbar.
- 5). Change the position of the taskbar. In the "Taskbar Location on Screen Box," select "Bottom," "Top," "Left" or "Right."
- 6). Change how Windows displays the taskbar buttons. In the "Taskbar Buttons" box, select "Always Combine, Hide Labels" if you want Windows to combine all similar groups of applications on the taskbar. Select "Combine When Taskbar is Full" if you want Windows to group icons only when there is inadequate space on the taskbar.
