Does Walking Help You Lose Weight?

Physical activity is very important and really essential, if a person wants to lose weight and get healthier.
It is very hard to lose weight with only diets, so doing some type of exercise is necessary for everyone.
But exercise by itself does not guarantee that a person loses weight.
Walking for example is considered an excellent exercise for overweight people.
But does walking help YOU lose weight? Weight loss is really simple and straight forward, if you understand a few very important rules.
In order for you to lose any weight, you need a calorie deficit.
Without a calorie deficit it is impossible to lose weight.
If you want to gain weight, then you need a calorie surplus.
A calorie deficit can be achieved in two different ways: physical activity and calorie reduction.
The best option would be to use both of them, for best results.
If you only try to achieve the necessary calorie deficit with exercise for example, then you have to really work very very hard, to be able to burn enough calories.
And if you want to reach the calorie deficit through calorie reduction, then you will starve yourself and that is not very productive.
For example a person weighing 200 pounds can burn around 360 calories an hour, walking at brisk pace.
If the person exercises 5 times a week, then he would be able to burn 1800 calories in a week.
This is a very good result and if the calories the person are under control, then certainly he will lose weight.
But if he is consuming more calories, then he is burning then walking 5 times a week for one hour each day is useless.
So both the physical activity and also the diet plan have to be in balance.
