Clewiston, Florida is a town of about 6,500 people located on Lake Okeechobee in southern Florida. The surrounding land is planted in citrus orchards and in sugar cane fields, prompting its nickname "America's Sweetest Town". Tourists come to enjoy fishing, especially bass fishing, on Lake Okeechobee. The Seminole Indian tribe operates a fun cafe in the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation in Clewiston, Florida. The cafe is part of the Billie Swamp Safari attraction which includes airboat rides through the everglades, swamp buggy tours and an alligator and snake show at their herpetarium. Safari guests may opt to stay in the swamp in native "chickees" or huts with thatched roofs. The Swamp Water Cafe features seafood fresh from Florida's "sea of grass," the Florida everglades. The menu includes catfish, frog legs, alligator or a platter to sample all three. The cafe is open during daytime hours only. - The Clewiston Inn in Clewiston, Florida offers elegant casual dining in the Colonial Dining Room. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers traditional southern specialties as well as steak and seafood. The menu includes conch fritters, popular in south Florida. Fresh grouper from the nearby Atlantic Ocean is available fried, broiled or grilled. Seafood Louis combines shrimp and crab with tasty dressing similar to Thousand Island. The Clewiston Inn also features a lobby paneled in old cypress and a charming Florida everglades decor.

The Roland Martin Marina is located in Clewiston on Lake Okeechobee. The marina offers villas, hotel rooms, RV parking and camping with direct boat access to the lake. Most visitors and guests at the Roland Martin Marina are interested in catching their own dinner on Lake Okeechobee, however, the Galley Grill is available for those who prefer to have it caught and served to them. The Galley Grill features casual dining with views of the lake. The menu includes gator tail, a regional specialty, as an appetizer or a as dinner with fries and coleslaw. Fried catfish fingers and a helping of hush puppies are another southern favorite. Stuffed crab and buffalo shrimp fresh reflect the proximity to the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.
