Start iChat to open the Buddy List. Click the "Status" drop-down arrow to view status options.

Select "Invisible."

Choose “Use Same Status for All Accounts” on the pop-up menu that appears if you have multiple accounts and want to appear invisible when you log on to any of them.

Log in to your iChat account.
