Unless you are planning on renting out your home as the set for a movie based on the underworld and the underhand dealings in dodgy offices - it is time to brighten up your home.
Let the light shine in through those windows, light emits positive energy, it does wonders for the mind, and if you have little kids at home it will do wonders for them and their imaginations.
White walls would be an ideal place to start, but if you have little kids at home those could get a bit too dirty too easily.
In that case I suggest you go for light earthly tones.
I am not saying keep away from deep, dark colours all together, I am saying let your main colours in a room be light and bright.
We have curtains and blinds over our windows for privacy when necessary and for those occasion when the sun becomes just a bit too much too handle.
Those blinds and curtains are not meant to stay closed permanently, and if you are one of those people who think drapes look their best when closed - you are so far off base.
Studies have found that kids who grow up in brighter airier environments are much more positive thinking and have much more creative imaginations as opposed to children who grow up in dull, confined environments.
The traditional idea of a study with heavy wood panelled walls has long past, a study or office space is now decorated very strongly around open areas, clutter free, light colours, minimalistic content, lots of natural light - it has been found that such an environment helps increase mental productivity and vitality.
Sunshine is a wonderful thing, which we often take for granted.
Let the sunshine into your home, and see how beautifully it will enhance your decor and lives.
