Not only was Fernandez named the LARAS 'Person of the Year', but he also took home the Latin grammy for "Best Ranchera Album."

Fernandez has won this award 3 times: in 2002 for Mas Con Numero Uno, in 2003 for 35 Aniversario - Lo Mejor De Lara and in 2004 for En Vivo Juntos Por Ultima Vez which he recorded with his son, Alejandro Fernandez.
