Repairing Pock Marks on a Wood Floor

    • 1). Purchase wood putty in a color that matches your hardwood floor. If necessary, take a picture of the floor and take it with you to the home improvement store. If you can't find the exact color, two colors can be mixed together to get a closer match.

    • 2). Clean any dirt and debris from the gouged areas with a broom or vacuum cleaner.

    • 3). Apply the filler to the pock marks with a putty knife, overfilling the damaged areas. Wood putty shrinks as it dries, so overfilling will help to completely fill the gouges.

    • 4). Sand off the excess wood putty once it dries so that the repair area is level with the floor.

    • 5). Apply a wood restorer to the repaired areas as directed by the manufacturer.
