How to Word the Invitation for a Kid's Birthday Party

    • 1). Type or write a title on the invitation cover using a large font. Make the title catchy and include your child's name. If you plan to incorporate a theme at the party, add a clue as to what the guests can expect in that regard. For example, "Yee-Haw! Rounding Up Ryan's Friends!" Alternatively, for a fairy party you could write, "Fly Little Fairies, It's Amanda's Birthday!" Use exclamation points copiously to convey child-like excitement.

    • 2). Open the card and finish the thought you wrote on the cover, adding detail to the title teaser. Write this on the inside left page. For example, "Howdy partner! Please come celebrate Ryan's 8th birthday." For a fairy theme, you could write, "All friendly fairies are invited to attend Amanda's Fairy Tea Party. It's her 10th birthday!"

    • 3). Write the important details like time, date, location and RSVP phone number on the inside right page. On this page, you can also add a special note, such as "Come dressed as your favorite superhero."

    • 4). Flip over the card to add a humorous or whimsical note at the bottom of the back cover. For example, you could make a paw print and write a tag line that reads, "Made by Mittens."
