How to Replace an Oxygen Sensor in a 2002 RAM 1500

    • 1). Locate the two oxygen sensors on either side of the catalytic converter on the Ram 1500's exhaust manifold. The Ram 1500's oxygen sensors resemble a gold spark plug with a wire at the end.

    • 2). Remove the wiring harness from the Ram 1500's two oxygen sensors. Using your fingers, lift the wire off the end of the oxygen sensor. Do not damage the end of the Ram 1500's wiring harness.

    • 3). Remove the two oxygen sensors from the Ram 1500's exhaust by using an oxygen sensor wrench.

    • 4). Apply anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the Ram 1500's two new oxygen sensors.

    • 5). Install the two new oxygen sensors in the Ram 1500's exhaust system using the oxygen sensor wrench. Reattach the wiring harness to both oxygen sensors using your fingers.
