How to Troubleshoot an HE4 Dryer

    Not Drying Properly

    • 1). Clean the lint screen before each load. Remove fabric softener sheets blocking the grille.

    • 2). Replace a crushed or kinked exhaust vent with a flexible metal vent. Remove the exhaust vent on the exterior of the home by removing the screw that secures it. Attach a new exhaust vent to the exposed duct and secure it with screws.

    • 3). Check household fuse or breaker box. Push tripped breakers to the "On" position or replace black or cloudy fuses. The dryer uses two fuses or breakers. The drum will turn but the dryer will not produce heat if one fuse blows or one breaker trips.

    • 4). Turn the gas supply line valve counterclockwise to open it fully.

    • 5). Avoid using the "Air Dry" cycle. This cycle does not produce heat.

    • 6). Remove several items from large loads so clothing tumbles freely.

    Does Not Run

    • 1). Plug the dryer in. Inspect the fuse or breaker box. Replace black or cloudy fuses or push tripped breakers to the "On" position.

    • 2). Replace regular fuse with a time-delay fuse. Remove the regular fuse in the household fuse box and insert a time-delay fuse. Time-delay fuses are marked with a "T."

    • 3). Close the dryer door firmly. Press and hold the "Start" button for one second.

    Error Codes

    • 1). Check the display for error codes.

    • 2). Press and hold the "Start" button to restart the dryer if "PF" is displayed. This error means a power failure occurred during a drying cycle.

    • 3). Call for service if "E1," "E2" or "E3" appears on the display. The dryer requires service.
