Scholarships for Women in Michigan

    Mildred B. Erickson Fellowship

    • The Mildred B. Erickson Fellowship fund is awarded to women who are returning to finish their degree or are entering school for the first time. The scholarship pays for two semesters of college. You must be a resident of the state of Michigan and in financial need to qualify for the scholarship. If you receive the scholarship, you may re-apply for two more years. The scholarship board reviews the applications closely, and puts strong emphasis on why you want the scholarship and your goals after graduation.

    American Legion Auxiliary Scholarships

    • The American Legion Auxiliary Michigan Department offers women in Michigan the opportunity to apply for three different scholarships. Each scholarship is $500 and you must be a resident of Michigan to apply. The first scholarship is the Medical Career Scholarship for those interested in pursuing a career in medicine. The Memorial Scholarship does not specify the field of study for the applicant. For non-traditional students, ages 22 and older, the Non-Traditional Scholarship is available.

Center for the Education of Women

    • The CEW allows you to apply for 40 scholarships at one time. The initial criteria is that your education was interrupted for four years and you are now enrolled or plan to enroll in the University of Michigan. You may be a full-time or part-time student and in any phase of your education, from undergraduate to professional. Once you receive one of the scholarships through the CEW application, you are not eligible to apply a second time.

    University of Michigan Alumni Association

    • The alumnae council for the University of Michigan provides a list of scholarships available to female students, made possible from organizations such as Alpha Xi Delta and Collegiate Sorosis. You apply for the scholarships through the financial aid office at the college. Over $300,000 was awarded for the 2010-to-2011 school year. The application information for the scholarships is available on the University of Michigan website. Some of the scholarships are reserved for residents of certain geographic locations in Michigan.
