- 1). Remove everything from the deck. Cover electrical outlets with duct tape to protect them from water. Sweep the deck thoroughly with a broom to remove loose dirt and debris.
- 2). Use a power washer with 1,500 psi (pounds per square inch) or lower to clean your Trex decking. A higher psi can damage the decking. Use a fan tip on the power washer. If you don't own a power washer, you can rent one for the day from rental supply companies.
- 3). Connect the power washer to an exterior water supply and turn it on. Follow the washer manufacturer's manual for specific instructions as this varies among models.
- 4). Start at the back of the deck and work your way to the stairs or entrance. Hold the tip of the power washer at least 12 inches from the surface of the deck. Move the wand slowly in a side-to-side motion over the deck. Keep the wand moving and overlap your strokes to ensure no part of the deck is missed.
- 5). Let the deck air dry thoroughly before replacing items on the deck.
