At first you may be thinking what has spirituality got to do with business, so let me clarify what I mean by spirituality.
In this article and context when I am referring to spiritual energy I am talking about the enormous motivational power that comes from knowing your purpose and building a business founded on your core values.
Indeed until you have uncovered your purpose I.
e.
the driving force behind your desire to create a business and consciously make an effort to stay in touch with that purpose in all you do, then even if you experience financial success you won't truly feel successful, you will always feel something is missing.
Now you may say that your purpose for building your business is to make a great income and provide for yourself and your family and there is nothing wrong with that.
What I'm saying is that if that is the only motivation for your business then you are probably not much better off than if you were still working for someone else in terms of job satisfaction.
If you are going to spend a large percentage of your time on something then why not make it something that you enjoy, something that enriches you, something that has you excited to get up and get stuck in each morning.
Ultimately you will create a business that is more successful too with this approach as your enthusiasm and drive will help you reach and help more people and be richly rewarded for your efforts financially and spiritually.
So your first steps will be to reflect and identify what your core values are and to clearly define your purpose or mission (in others words who do you want to serve and how will you help them change).
This process may take some time and almost certainly this will not be a one-time task but something you come back to and tweak and change throughout your life.
Once you are clear on these two aspects then managing your spiritual energy is a matter of achieving a balance between working towards your purpose to serve others in some way along with taking care of your own needs.
You won't be able to keep on serving if you don't take the time to refuel your spiritual energy tank.
If you have religious beliefs this might take the form of prayer and scripture study, for example.
If not, then getting out in nature and appreciating it glory or just setting aside some quiet time for reflection and meditation might suit you.
The trick is to make it a habit to refuel on a daily basis whatever means you choose, even if it is only for a few minutes.
