In high school in 1961, I took freshman geometry.
The class was a revelation.
I learned a bit of geometry, and a lot about life.
Many years later, the same lesson became an MLM success tip that helped me build income with several network marketing companies.
The reason geometry was so hot was, it was the first time I ever had a textbook with answers in the back of the book! I know that's the norm these days, but it sure wasn't back then.
When I realized I just had to flip a few pages to get the correct answer and save myself hours of geometric drudgery ...
well, I figured I knew what Edison felt like when his light bulb finally worked.
The "slide rule boys" used this helper to see if they worked the problem right.
My buddies and I weren't slide rule boys.
We were baseball and football and pool hall boys.
I started homework with honorable intentions.
But as soon as I hit a tough isosceles triangle or trigonometric function, I'd flip to the back of the book and check out the answer.
Of course, that wasn't the end of the story.
The teachers expected some kind of cheating, even before you could get answers in the back of the book.
So they had a longstanding rule: to get credit for geometry homework, you always had to show your work.
I'm sure a lot of kids around the country did exactly what I did - they became a backward thinker.
You worked the problem until you couldn't get any further ...
and then you took the answer and started working backward.
Then you'd meet in the middle.
That strategy works most of the time when you know the answer.
And it's a very useful MLM success tip.
You ALWAYS know the answer.
You always know the result you want.
So work your problems backward.
For example ...
In most network marketing companies, you want a system where you can recruit a steady stream of strong reps who will duplicate what you do and build your business.
How do you do that? Flip to the end of the book.
For Sue to join your group and build her business effectively long-term, she must know, like & trust YOU.
She knows you have her best interest at heart.
How does she know that? By your actions.
She's seen you do things & heard you say things that obviously demonstrate that you value HER & her success ...
more than you value money, for instance.
So the answer in the back of the book is: Sue trusts you 100%.
How can YOU get this answer? Let's work backwords.
You must start with what's going on in Sue's mind: 1.
Sue knows you gave her a no-nonsense business building Action Plan for success, and you went over every step with her to be sure she can do it.
2.
She knows you told her exactly what you expect of her, but you never pressure her.
3.
You gave her the facts about your company, told showed her how to check these facts for herself using 3rd party resources.
4.
You insisted that you wouldn't have her in your business unless she first sent you her WHY, because you know that people who won't write their WHY aren't serious about their business.
5.
You never begged her.
You told her what you expect, and that if she doesn't have similar expectations for herself, then this relationship probably isn't meant to be.
6.
Sue has concluded that you won't BS her.
There are other characteristics & actions that generate know, like & trust, but you get the idea.
And the same technique can be applied to other aspects of MLM companies that you want to build.
You KNOW what the right answer is.
Now work backwards, and you'll have a clear path to achieving the results you want.
And just as important, you'll be able to identify & drop out all the current actions that are counter-productive, that will NEVER achieve the result you want.
It's just simple geometry.
