- 1). Check the charge level on the batteries, and replace them if necessary. The Roomba uses rechargeable batteries for its power, and when those rechargeable batteries wear out, the Roomba will no longer be able to hold a charge long enough to clean your home.
- 2). Flip the Roomba over and examine the brushes on the underside. Over time, these brushes can become clogged with pet hair, dirt and other debris. Clean the hair and debris out of the brushes, and try the Roomba again.
- 3). Open the containment section of the Roomba 4220 and empty it thoroughly. If the containment compartment is full, the Roomba will not be able to clean any more dirt.
- 4). Remove any power cords and cables from the room being cleaned. The Roomba 4220 sometimes has trouble climbing over those obstructions.
- 5). Place the charging station in an open section of the wall instead of the corner. Placing the charging base in the corner can make it hard for the Roomba to position itself properly.
