How to Remove Pomegranate Juice

    • 1). Remove any pomegranate flesh or seeds from the stained surface. Attempting cleanup without doing so is useless, as the pomegranate will continue leaking juice as long as it's present. Make sure not to squeeze the pomegranate as you lift it away, as this can also result in unintended stains.

    • 2). Gently cleanse the stain with cold water and detergent -- liquid laundry detergent for clothing and other removable objects or dishwashing detergent for upholstery and carpet. Mix equal parts detergent and cool water and use a clean, white cloth to blot or pat the solution into the stain. Make sure not to scrub or otherwise agitate the stain, as this can result in it becoming more set-in than it already is. Use a second clean, white cloth to blot up any excess moisture on the stain.

    • 3). Cleanse a stain on an upholstered surface with white vinegar if detergent doesn't fully lift it. Apply a small amount of vinegar to the stain, then blot with a clean, white cloth until it disappears. Blot away any excess vinegar with a dry cloth.

    • 4). Machine or hand wash clothing or other removable fabric using chlorine (for white) or color-safe bleach. Once you've fully removed the stain, you can leave bleach out entirely from future wash cycles.
