How to Transfer iPod Songs to a Computer Using iTunes

    • 1). Click "Go" at the top of your Macintosh's screen and click Applications from the drop-down list. Double-click the iTunes icon to run the application. For Windows PCs, click the "Start" button on the taskbar and click "All Programs," "Apple" and "iTunes" to run iTunes.

    • 2). Select "Store" from the top of the screen on your Mac, or at the top of the iTunes menu on your PC and select "Authorize Computer" from the menu.

    • 3). Click the circle next to the Apple icon or click the circle next to the AOL icon, depending on your username used to makes iTunes purchases. Enter your Apple ID or AOL screen name, and enter your password.

    • 4). Click the "Authorize" button, and click "OK" on the pop-up box to confirm the authorization.

    • 5). Plug the iPod cable into your iPod and your computer's FireWire or USB port, and click the iPod tab under the Devices section in iTunes.

    • 6). Click "File" at the top of the Mac's screen or at the top of the iTunes menu and click "Transfer Purchases from iPod."

    • 7). Press and release "Command" and "E" simultaneously on your Macintosh keyboard to eject the iPod once the transfer is complete, or click the "Eject" icon on the iPod tab.
