- 1). Apply an ice cube to the gum to freeze it.
- 2). Scrape off as much gum as possible with a blunt knife.
- 3). Mix 2 tbsp. white vinegar, 1 tbsp. liquid dish soap and 2 cups warm water.
- 4). Moisten a cloth with the cleaning solution and dab the stained area to moisten it.
- 5). Blot the moisture dry with a clean, dry cloth.
- 6). Repeat the moistened dabbing and dry blotting until the gum is completely gone.
- 1). Scrape up any excess sticky substance with a blunt knife.
- 2). Mix 1 cup warm water with 2 tbsp. white vinegar and 1 tbsp. liquid dish soap.
- 3). Dip a cloth into the cleaning solution and use it to press down on the stain, moistening the area.
- 4). Blot the area dry with another cloth.
- 5). Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the sticky substance and stain are gone.
- 1). Scrape off any dried glue that will flake easily.
- 2). Saturate the rest of the glue stain with white vinegar and let it sit for five minutes.
- 3). Blot up the vinegar with a clean, white cloth. Use an upward motion to pull the glue from the carpet fibers.
